I'm not a big fan of the "futuristic" looking buggy but l have developed a soft spot for the Super Sabre. Its sports car looks (l read somewhere that it was loosely based on the Honda NSX and you don't need to look hard to see the NSX influences) with off road capabilities work really well. And considering that it is now 20 odd years old, it's still a really nice car to drive.

This was probably Tamiya at their very best when it comes to reliability. It's not trouble free though and it does have its problems. The main one being excessive wear in the steering joint knuckles tend to make throwing a drive shaft and having the front collapse mid corner a common occurrence. That said, l won't be giving mine up in a hurry so buy now before the collectors start collecting and there are none left.

An often overlooked brother to the Boomerang. Apart from the body the Super Sabre actually has all the same parts as the Boomerang, the blue plastics from the Boomer are replaced by red as are the shockers instead of yellow. Parts are pretty easy to find except those shock bodies which are pretty rare. A great looking car that came along perhaps too late, over-shadowed by the Boomerang but a great performer none-the-less. Worthy of any serious collection.
